When I tell people I’m a Minimalist, they tend to assume I don’t have anything to sit on in my house and that it’s stark and sterile. While I don’t really have comfortable things to sit on, I do have a couch and chairs. I also decorate my home, to the surprise of some, seasonally. While my definition of decorating seasonally may differ from the techniques of many, I do still like to celebrate the changing of the seasons. Happy Sunday everyone! This week’s Let’s Chat brings with it the last weekend of November…where did the time go? Continue reading “Let’s Chat Season 01, Episode 07”
It’s almost that time again. Christmas time of course! (For all those who observe it.) Unfortunately though modern western Christmas traditions don’t usually mix well with minimalism. However, with that said you can find a balance for the holidays that wont result in excess consumption and boxes of decorations that are only used for 1/12th of the year. Things have been hectic for us. We’ve been working really hard on going through our belongings again for the last time. I mean, as we move and grow we’ll get rid of things, but Trevor and I both feel like this time around we are truly getting rid of all the excess. One year after we started on our journey, we believe we’ll be finished with it.
Between tearing the house apart, listing things on eBay and Craigslist, and helping my sister tackle her clutter……….we found time on a Saturday to drive 5h round-trip to our “local” IKEA to snag me a new desk.
This year was an interesting one for us, in terms of the holiday season. This post is supposed to go up before Christmas, but it just didn’t happen. Lately I’ve been feeling unhappy in my surroundings, which typically means we have too many possessions. Continue reading “Our 2015 Christmas Tree”
